Towle Whitney designs and builds variable speed booster pump systems for office buildings / college dormitories / schools of all sizes.
Some of our recent projects are listed below. A small description of each project specifies the parameters of plumbing setup, the  basis
for booster system design and the information regarding the system that was installed:
County Courthouse - Long Island, NY
The constant speed booster system at this courthouse was
operating 24/7/365 and generating huge electricity bills. The
replacement parts for the failing pumps were very hard to find.

Engineers and Master plumbers at Towle Whitney deigned a
Vertical Triplex
HILO modular booster system. The system can be
separated into three modules that can be operated
independently. The small jockey pump handles all the off-peak
demand and the two main pumps only operate at peak demand
in a lead/lag sequence. The main pumps also alternate every 48
hours.

College Dormitory - Bangor, ME
The dormitories at a reputed college in Bangor, ME had marginal
pressure on all floors except the first. The condition worsened at
peak water usage, in the morning and evening causing a lot of
inconvenience to the students.

Towle Whitney supplied a Duplex variable speed booster system
with two 3HP pumps each of which delivered 70 GPM at 50 PSI
boost. A single pump is enough to handle the demand from the
entire building, the second pump adds redundancy and also
handles peak loads.

County Courthouse - Camden, NJ
Another constant speed booster system at a courthouse in
Camden, NJ was operating 24/7/365. The water usage in the
building varied greatly throughout the day but the constant speed
pumps ran at full RPM nonetheless.

A Triplex
HILO booster system was designed with a jockey 2HP
pump and two main 4HP pumps. The system is very energy
efficient, the pumps are quiet due to the Totally enclosed fan
cooled motors [TEFC]. The jockey pump handles all the off-peak
demand and the two main pumps only operate at peak demand
in a lead/lag sequence.

Housing Authority - Newark, NJ
The office building for the housing authority in Newark, NJ had
inconsistent water pressure due to the old constant speed
pumps. The frequent maintenance and repair costs added to the
expense of operating this system which already consumed a lot
more electricity than was needed.

Towle Whitney designed a Duplex variable speed booster system
with customized manifolds to simplify the replacement of the
existing booster system. The manifolds were designed to match
the existing incoming and outgoing lines and the cost of
retrofitting was kept low by using existing piping and valves.
