Innovating for Our Customers: How the TW2018W Wall Series Came to Life

At Towle Whitney, we thrive on tackling challenges and evolving to meet the needs of our customers. One of our proudest achievements emerged from an unexpected conversation at the ASPE Expo, which led to the creation of the TW2018W Wall Series—a product that has transformed how engineers approach tight spaces.

For years, one of our most loyal engineers specified our TW2018U (over-under unit) for every project. Its reliability and performance were unmatched. However, as mechanical rooms became smaller and floor space more limited, the TW2018U was no longer viable. When I greeted this engineer at the Expo, he shared his dilemma: shrinking floor space in projects, but untapped room on walls. That moment sparked an idea.

After the Expo, I followed up with him to explore potential solutions. During a Teams call a week later, we brainstormed possibilities. Just two weeks after that conversation, we built the first prototype of what would become the TW2018W—a wall-mounted booster pump system. It was a fast, focused effort, and when I showed him the prototype during another virtual meeting, he was impressed. The design met all his needs. With a few tweaks based on his feedback, we finalized the unit in just a month. From concept to completion—prototype built, CAD drawings finalized, and submittals prepared—the TW2018W was ready. It quickly became his go-to system for every project.

The story didn’t end there. Shortly after, a customer in Hawaii who intended to order our TW2018T faced similar space constraints. We introduced them to the TW2018W Wall Series. Their engineer reviewed it and was thrilled. What started as a localized solution now served engineers across multiple projects, proving its versatility and effectiveness.

This journey exemplifies what we do best at Towle Whitney: listen, adapt, and solve problems. Our small, agile team thrives on turning challenges into opportunities. The TW2018W Wall Series began as an idea but has since become a game-changer for engineers grappling with tight mechanical spaces.

At Towle Whitney, innovation is more than just creating new products—it’s about delivering solutions that make a real difference for our customers. No matter the challenge, we’re ready to listen, adapt, and make it happen.
